Grateful for Ocean Fitness
One thing I have learned is that Ocean Fitness is a mindset, a way of life, and a very productive outlet for the mind and body. The bottom line is Ocean fitness is very healthy. I am so grateful for Ocean Fitness’s ability to allow us to draw so much inspiration from the many people who live this lifestyle. It is so easy to find inspiration from many of the big named Ocean athletes but equally easy to find that same inspiration from guys that live in your own beach town. It is no wonder that the Ocean Fitness tribe is growing by leaps and bounds with all the great ways to get your fitness on the water. I am so grateful to be able to get Ocean fit on the water with mother nature all around to inspire us to new limits. Ocean fitness gives us access to so many beautiful places that display’s nature is so many forms . I am so grateful for Ocean Fitness’s ability to help us keep and maintain peace of mind.
So grateful for all the amazing watermen and woman who inspire us on our journey in this amazing lifestyle. This blog is way to short to list all the people that I have found inspirational in my journey being an Ocean Athlete. One such man just passed away and his name was Dorian ‘Doc’ Paskowitz. He has inspired many a surfer through his lifestyle of living a life of surfing with his family living in a trailer and chasing waves. His book titled, “Surfing and Health”, was so motivating to me and summed it all up why this lifestyle is so attractive to so many people. I absolutely love his definition of health which states , “Health is more than the absence of disease. Health is the presence of a superior state of well being. Living with vigor and vitality and working at it day after day! It is very easy to draw inspiration from guys like Laird Hamilton and Dave Kalama for all they have done to promote the Ocean Fitness lifestyle . These guys live the life they preach and have been the biggest spokesmen for this incredible lifestyle. One of the greatest aspects of being an ocean athlete are the guys you meet in your local beach that inspire you and become like brothers to you and that motivate you by their actions on the water. I have to mention a couple guys that I find amazing in how they go about there business. Don Alderman and Bill Smith who both completed the Molokai 2 Oahu paddle race with outstanding results. These guys both put the time in and accomplished amazing goals and made us all so proud. Finding great friendship and inspiration through Ocean Fitness is so rewarding.
So grateful for finding a work out room that takes place with mother nature all around. Their is nothing like taking a prone paddle and having a dolphin poke his head out of the water only to look at you right in the eyes or seeing a flock of black skimmers fly by with their vivid colors . Surfing in Costa Rica and seeing Coconut palms lining the front beach is incredible. Having friends that see Scarlet Macaw’s fly by as they surf in southern Costa Rica must be so amazing. The Ocean has so many moods and personalities that change on a daily basis. One day you are waking up to pure glass and sunshine while the next day it is grey and blowing 25 knots down the beach. Every one of these conditions offers us a way to get fit in this wonderful , challenging playground. How lucky we are to live on the water and experience this display of energy . Some may live in the most exotic of places while others of us may live in a beautiful but less exotic locale. One thing is for sure there is beauty to enjoy while getting one’s body fit no matter where you live.
So grateful for the Peace of Mind that can be obtained through Ocean Fitness. We all have our moods and trying to live in the present moment can be so challenging with all of our daily struggles and challenges that face us. I can’t think of a better way to really live in the moment than being in the ocean kiting down the beach , surfing a glassy wave or paddling down wind . Having great conditions are the best for the many of our ocean sports but some of the most inspiring days come from just committing to getting a workout on the water in less than stellar conditions. We must challenge ourselves on a daily basis and getting your body fit on the water will certainly help in peace of mind.
It is real easy to be grateful when you have good friends, a fit and healthy body, and peace of mind. Their is no doubt that Ocean Fitness will continue to flourish.
