We have many WPA certified instructors and a fully insured facility. Stand up paddle boarding experts are hard to find and I am very proud of the team Ocean Fitness has compiled. We are a rider driven company and take pride in our professionalism.
I am proud to be an East Coast Waterman and have spent countless years in the ocean surfing, windsurfing, kite surfing and paddle boarding. I am a certified kite instructor, windsurf instructor and paddle board instructor .
I am founder of Ocean Fitness and proud to offer professional instruction to those that want to learn the fundamentals of paddle boarding.
I was fortunate to have pioneered both kite surfing and paddle boarding in the Charleston area and believe these sports have opened up many opportunities to enjoy the ocean and most of all offer some of the best fitness options to enjoy a happy life.
Along with my brother Stuart, we have pioneered kitesurfing and paddle boarding along the Charleston coast. From the time I started I have stayed very discipline with these exciting watersports and stayed up with all the progressions with equipment and techniques.
I started teaching kiting 5 years ago along with the certification. With that experience I realized there was a more broad market in standup paddle boarding so we started our standup school. Our school’s mission is introducing a wide range of people to a new lifestyle and fitness opportunities.
Misty Lister, SUP Fitness & SUP Yoga Instructor
After being introduced to SUP in California in 2008, Misty became hooked! Upon her return and determined to introduce SUP to her Charleston friends, she immediately bought her first board. It all happened organically and Misty began teaching SUP to friends and beach goers.
In 2010 Misty obtained her ISFTA fitness certification and took on her first job as a Standup Paddleboard Fitness Instructor.
In 2011, Misty joined the team at Ocean Fitness where she continues to lead the Sup Fitness programs. Misty is a certified SUP instructor and SUP Yoga instructor. When Misty is not on the water she is the marketing and communications director for local nonprofit, Lowcountry Local First, and enjoys being challenged at Jivamukti Yoga and Pilates classes.
Jaime started paddling dragon boats six years ago and competed in the ICF world championships in Milan in 2012. Her love for paddling quickly branched out to outriggers and SUPs. But to balance all the yang of competitive paddling, she turned to the yoga mat for some grounding. She is a 200-hour RYT and a certified PLYOGA instructor (a high-energy combination of plyometrics and yoga) and completed her SUP yoga certification in April 2016 through Lazy Dog Paddle Company. When she’s not paddling or practicing asanas, she is copyediting local and regional history books.
